Preparing for your winter sports

Ordering a ski pass

Relaxed: book your ski pass for Puy Saint Vincent ski area through us and we’ll make sure it’s ready for you upon arrival.

Ski lessons at the ESF

You can book ski lessons at the ESF, both private (from €50 – €82.50 per hour) and group lessons (€160 for 6 days, 2.5 hours a day during the week of Dec. 23-30; €142 for 6 days, 2 hours a day during all other vacation weeks). An ESF office can be found next to the hotel. Ask for a departure from station 1400, the meeting place will be in front of our terrace. The children’s garden can be found 100 meters away from the hotel. You can book through the ESF site (click on “View More”), call via tel. 0033 (0)4 92 23 35 11 or email info@esf-psv.com (may be in English). Are you going for a group lesson and finding it difficult to assess the skill level? Then also check out the ESF site, from the videos you can judge the level. Click on “Quel est ton niveau.” The ESF employs two ski instructors who speak a little Dutch. They can be booked for private lessons only: Fabien Rulfo and Sebastien Fages. Good and fun English-speaking instructors include: Tom Bankes and Lucas Bessy. They are also happy to take you exploring the ski resort where they will show you the beautiful trails and adventurous descents you won’t easily get to on your own.

Ski lessons at the ESI

At the ESI you book ski lessons for €144 for 6 days, 2 hours per day. Their lessons start at station 1600, which is a bit more inconvenient from the hotel’s point of view (you either take the car, or a free shuttle, or take the ski lift to 1800 and ski to 1600 from there). Their groups are somewhat smaller than the ESF. Maximum of 8 in a group. Reservations in English at: ecoledeski.psv@gmail.com or 0033 (0)492233079.

Rental of skis and snowboards (20% discount)

At the SkiSet next door you will receive a 20% discount as our guest. They also rent sleds, snowshoes, touring skis, powder skis, etc. No reservations in advance are necessary; just walk in. Just mention that you are staying with us to get the discount.

Childcare

There are two options in station 1400 for child care: – The garderie LES MARMOTTINS, for children from 18 months to 6 years. Located 100 meters walk from the hotel. Reservations can be made via: 0033 (0)6 72 98 84 15 – The MAM, smaller in scale and offers care for toddlers as young as 3 months old. Reservations by calling 0033 (0)4 92 51 79 21 or 0033 (0)6 68 21 24 44. The staff only speaks French.

At home in the mountains

Anyone who ventures into the mountains may be familiar with the feeling of equality among people, of togetherness, of the beauty of nature, of the joy of a delicious meal, of the pure, almost simple happiness that overwhelms you when you look back on a beautiful adventure while staring into the flames of a fire or gazing at the distant mountain peaks. That is what we hope you will experience when you are our guest. Explore the mountains. Meet friends. Feel at home. Just like us.

Check-in and check-out

From 16.00h the room will be ready for your reception. And on the day of departure we ask you to leave your room again before 10.00h. Are you arriving earlier or do you want to leave later? In that case, we have a storage area available where you can place your belongings in advance. But feel free to ask if your room might be ready earlier. If you expect to arrive after 7 p.m. on the day of arrival, please let us know. Then we can take this into account.

Towels and cleaning

Daily cleaning rounds are done in the rooms. This involves cleaning the sanitary facilities, vacuuming, emptying trash cans, replenishing toilet rolls and soap if necessary. Towels lying on the floor will also be replaced then. If you prefer extra towels that is no problem and free of charge, just ask.

Parking & accessibility

Parking is free in front of the hotel. There are also 4 parking spaces with charging station, only for electric cars. If the parking spaces are occupied, you can temporarily park in front to unload your belongings. Then park your car for free behind the barrier. Ask us for the key. Prefer to park indoors? Underneath the hotel at the front is a fee-paying parking garage.

Col de Lautaret: fastest way through the mountains
You can choose the D1091, Grenoble – Briançon via the Col du Lautaret. A beautiful road through the mountains from Grenoble. The distance not great, but the drive takes about 3 hours. Don’t mistake this. This road can be jammed or closed in bad weather (snow and wind). Then consider driving through the Fréjus Tunnel.

Frejus tunnel: fewer mountain roads, but 30 min longer and tolls
You can go through the Fréjus tunnel on the A43. Then you pass Italy and the Col de Montgènevre. This road is not faster than via the Col du Lautaret, but you are on the highway longer and less on mountain roads. This tunnel costs locally for a passenger car €44 for a single trip, €55 for a return (note! return is only valid for 7 days).

Route Napoléon over Gap: no col over, 45 min longer
You can also take the Route Napoléon: from Lyon, take the A43/A48 to Grenoble, then towards Gap, then Embrun and Puy-St-Vincent. This route takes about 45 min longer. This route does not require you to cross a real col.
