Cycling holidays in the Alps

A cycling holiday in a special location? We know another address: a hotel with a story. In the summer of 2022, Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegaard of the Dutch team Jumbo-Visma caused a great cycling spectacle on the legendary Col du Granon. He cycled away from two-time Tour winner Tadej Pogačar on the gruelling climb during a professional piece of cycling in the Alps.

What everyone thought at the time turned out to come true: on the Granon, Vingegaard secured the Tour de France final victory. The great thing is that this climb is just a few dozen kilometres from Hotel Saint Roch, a cycling hotel in the southern Alps. Besides the Granon, enthusiastic cyclists can also venture around the hotel to, for example, the Galibier, Agnel, Izoard, Vars and the Bonette.

Mountain hotel with sun-drenched terrace

On a cycling holiday, isn't it wonderful to cycle through the sunny and challenging Alps during the day and then be served a fresh plate of pasta on a sun-drenched terrace as soon as you return? Cycling hotel Saint Roch has such a terrace. There is also a swimming pool for some cooling down, a sauna and jacuzzi for much-needed muscle relaxation and a delicious and colourful three-course dinner in the evening.

Sports massages can also be provided on request. Sporting events can be watched in the bar on the big screen, enthusiasts can indulge in our extensive special beer selection. In the restaurant we have a large games cabinet, so in the evening we regularly host game nights or you can relax with a book in the hotel bar.

Bicycle hotel run by cycling enthusiasts

Our cycling hotel is run by cycling fanatics: we know what cyclists like in order to enjoy a cycling holiday to the maximum. Hotel employees cycle along on request as tour guides or just because it's fun.

We also understand better than anyone that in cycling groups not everyone is at the same level: we can therefore advise on what is fun and what is not to ensure that it can be fun for everyone. And for those who recoil at the thought of climbing an alpine giant: even for beginners, there are plenty of challenging cycling routes in the area.

Specialists in cycling groups

The hotel's facilities and the knowledge we have acquired over the past ten years mean that we can now call ourselves specialists in welcoming cycling groups. Nothing is too much for us: we can put together a weekly programme and provide delicious lunches at the top of an Alpine col. And that is quite special: when reaching the summit, hotel guests are waited on and can join us at the picnic table. We make fresh pancakes, spread sandwiches and provide fresh juices. Hotel guests can continue the trip after lunch with amazing views.

Hotel Saint Roch is on the border of the gigantic Les Ecrins Nature Park: often referred to as the sunniest nature reserve in France. Because it is always so sunny and cyclists also enjoy exploring other sports, we regularly see groups wanting to do other things as well. Think mountain biking, rafting, climbing, via ferrata and paragliding.

Hotel Saint Roch is right next to the slopes: in summer, therefore, also the perfect place for the spectacular downhilling. Bicycles can be hired next to the hotel and the lift is right in front of the hotel, so perfect conditions to undertake other activities as well.

Cycling holiday for groups

We have already welcomed many groups who have visited our hotel to work on team spirit. In the mornings, we can provide yoga sessions and presentations can be made with the beamer available. As the entire hotel can be hired and all possible activities organised, it can be the perfect place to enjoy a carefree holiday/team building week.

A visit to France is obviously only successful after a real boules tournament. On our terrace there is a beautiful court surrounded by standing tables: the perfect conditions for a great tournament combined with drinks or a barbecue.

Groups often like to organise something special on the last evening: think karaoke night, pup quiz or a party night where the hotel bar is transformed into a disco. We understand that every cycling group has different wishes: we will therefore help put together the perfect cycling week. And as said, nothing is too crazy and, above all, we want to give our hotel guests an unforgettable experience and help them make wonderful memories!
